‘TAWDRY’ TEA PARTY NOT A GOOD LOOK FOR STAR

Beckhams’ palace backlash; Ben is honoured; Jessica’s baby blessing; and Hollywood’s spotlight on New Zealand

It looked like a day fit for princesses as a group of little girls – albeit with famous parents – sipped tea with Princess Eugenie (27).

But when David Beckham (42) shared pictures of his daughter Harper and her friends visiting Buckingham Palace for her sixth birthday dressed in princess costumes, he wasn’t prepared for the backlash that followed.

Former royal staff and the public have expressed anger at the flippant use of the palace, saying it devalues the institution and is not appropriate if the public can’t use it in the same way.

It is believed Sarah Ferguson (57), the Duchess of York, organised the event outside Prince Andrew’s (57) office. He will be footing the bill.

Dickie Arbiter, a former Buckingham Palace press secretary, described the event as “tawdry”. He said, “What a nonsense. What are they doing there? None of them has a right to be there. Is it being opened as a theme park? It devalues what the place is all about.”

David tried to backtrack, explaining the event was “a tea party where us and other guests were invited so it was a beautiful thing to do with my mum, Harper plus a few school friends”.

However, there is also a report that designer Stella McCartney (45) is furious with the football star after he posted a photo of her daughter at the event with Harper without permission.

Oh dear, David!
