QUEEN MARGRETHE OF DENMARK ADDS SOME COLOUR TO A RIDING EVENTS

-

Rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the Danish royal family as they welcomed participants in the annual ring riding competition last week.

Nor did they let the greyness affect their outfits for the event, where competitors ride horseback with lances towards a ring.

Queen Margrethe’s floral rain jacket and matching hat stole the show as the clan greeted crowds at Grasten Palace.

The 77-year-old queen was joined by Crown Prince Frederik (49), his wife Crown Princess Mary (45) and their children Prince Christian (11) Princess Isabella (10)

and six-year-old twins Princess Josephine

and Prince Vincent.

The family was obviously thrilled to be part of the event and in between showers, took their time to chat with the crowds.

The Queen’s husband, Prince Henrik

(83) was notably absent from the event after being admitted to hospital last week with a leg infection. A press release from the palace said the prince was expected to be released over the weekend but due to the admission, he had cancelled official appointments in the coming days.
