Hair was cut into layers and bangs, then blow-waved for maximum flick. Bronzed skin reigned supreme – gained through sunbathing or experimenting with the arrival of “faux” tan creams. Gloss was on everyone’s lips.
Mod fashion gave way to disco fever and hippie culture – tailored suits were taken to the extreme, with bold colour and prints dominating the stores. Layering and fringing arrived with a vengeance, as did block heels and platform shoes.
