Keep an eye on your weight. Your metabolism starts to slow down at about 35 and it can be easy for excess kilos to start piling on.

Think about your fertility. If you want kids but haven’t had them, now is the time to start planning for a family. Fertility declines after the mid-thirties and many women who leave it until this time are shocked when they encounter problems getting pregnant or can’t have children at all.

See your doctor about menstruation problems. Irregular periods or ones that are unusually heavy or painful could be a sign of conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis or fibroids.

Start having regular blood pressure checks, especially if you are on the Pill. A lot of women start developing hypertension in their thirties.
