The royal countdown is on! With just three months to go before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day, speculation is running at an all-time high as to what we can expect from their nuptials.

While the couple are keeping mum over many of the finer details, last week they released an official statement as to what we can look forward to on May 19 – as well as letting slip a few details while talking with members of the public during their walkabout in Scotland.

“We asked them what they were doing for their stag and hen dos,” tells Tom Martin (30), who was in Scotland on holiday and stood with the crowd to get a glimpse of the couple. “Meghan said, ‘I’m not sure it’s sorted, but it will be fun.’”

Tom says that Harry was also aware that a plan had been made for his stag do, but he was being kept in the dark as to what they had in store for him.

“I’m sure William’s got something up his sleeve,” laughed Tom.

Meanwhile, in a more official capacity, Kensington Palace released a statement giving the public specific details about how the big day will unfold. The couple say they are “hugely grateful for the many good wishes they have received since announcing their engagement. They are very much looking forward to the day and to being able to share their celebrations with the public”. •

The wedding service will begin at St George’s Chapel at midday. The Dean of Windsor, the Rt Rev David Conner will conduct the service. The Most Rev and Rt Hon Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, will officiate as the couple make their marriage vows. •

At 1pm, the couple, now married, will undertake a carriage procession along a route from St George’s Chapel, leaving Windsor Castle via Castle Hill and processing along the High Street and through Windsor Town, returning to Windsor Castle along the Long Walk. They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day. •

Following the service, there will be a reception at St George’s Hall. The couple will join their guests on returning from the carriage procession. •

Later that evening, Prince Charles will give a private reception for the newlyweds, their close friends and family.
