About the author… Christian White

-

He’s Australian, lives in Melbourne with his wife and their greyhound, and has written a lot for television and film.

This is his first novel.

This novel was inspired by...” A conversation with my nan, who is in her late nineties and has dementia. I started to wonder if her memories were truly gone or if they were in her head and she just couldn’t reach them any more. It made me think about all the memories I might have already lost. I was listening to an unhealthy amount of true crime podcasts at the time, so an idea quickly formed: what if someone said you were kidnapped as a child and you simply can’t remember it?” My writing routine is...” I get up early and write for an hour before my dog wakes up. When she stirs, I take her for a long walk where I mentally prepare for the day ahead. When I get home, I do another solid two-three hours of work, until I remember to shower. After lunch, I work for a few more hours and then usually call it a day around five or six, right around the time my dog starts asking for her second walk. Basically, my schedule revolves around my dog!” My favourite books to read are...” Mystery/ thrillers, true crime and anything by Stephen King and Gillian Flynn.”
