George’s wheelie scary accident in Italy

By George, that was a close call! George Clooney was rushed to hospital last week after a hair-raising motorcycle crash on the Italian island of Sardinia.

According to reports, a car pulled out in front of George, who was thrown from his bike during the impact. George (57) was believed to be travelling at about 95km/h when the accident occurred and was hurled into the air during the crash, landing on the road and breaking his helmet on impact.

The star was taken by ambulance to John Paul II hospital, where he had an MRI. Thankfully, he suffered only minor injuries – trauma and bruising to his pelvis, one leg and arm – and was released later in the day.

George and his wife Amal (40) are currently based in Sardinia while the actor films a miniseries adapted from Joseph Heller’s World War II novel Catch-22. Filming was expected to be halted for several days while George recuperated at home.

The Clooneys have rented a two-storey villa for the duration and have been spotted around town with their one-year-old twins Ella and Alexander. George’s parents Nick and Nina arrived to stay a few weeks ago, and were recently joined by Amal’s mum Baria.

They’ll no doubt be of great help while

George is recovering.

The glamorous

A-listers recently donated more than

$140,000 to the Young

Centre for Immigrant Children’s Rights.

“At some point in the future, our children will ask us, ‘Is it true, did our country really take babies from their parents and put them in detention centres?’” George and Amal said in a joint statement. “And when we answer yes, they’ll ask us what we did about it. What we said. Where we stood. We can’t change this administration’s policy, but we can help defend the victims of it.”
