What a year it’s been for the royals – two weddings and two new great-grandchildren for the Queen.

Indeed, 2018 will be a year Her Majesty will surely look back on with fondness, but it’s bound to be bittersweet for Zara Tindall.

Zara’s always been one of my favourite royals – her quiet, unassuming just ‘get on with it’ nature is refreshing in amongst the pomp and pageantry of the establishment, and of course, her eldest daughter

Mia is an absolute delight – here in the Weekly office, we always look forward to seeing snaps of the rambunctious, cheeky wee girl in full flight!

It’s typical of Zara to be so open and honest, even when it comes to the hard topics such as miscarriage and stillbirth.

With these painful subjects still considered taboo, Zara and other prominent figures, such as our own All Black Luke Romano and his wife Hannah, who bravely spoke about their stillborn son Felix last month, opening up goes a long way to helping grieving families talk about their own experiences, and to encourage friends and family of those suffering to not be scared to broach the subject too.

Speaking of broaching subjects, this week also sees us bring back our popular ‘Facing the Tough Stuff’ series for a second year, which aims to help you or your loved ones through the finer points of planning for retirement. We were inundated with your feedback last year, so hopefully you’ll also enjoy our new six-part series – this week we’re talking decluttering and downsizing.

Enjoy your week!
