New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

FROM THE EDITOR

-

We’ve been full to the rafters this week with sequins, silks – well, every fabric imaginable really, and racks full of clothing from incredible designers to chain-store treasures. And, rather surprisingly, they’re all little numbers you can pick up from a Mercy Hospice shop near you!

See, for a brief time we have a selection of Mercy Hospice shop clothing here with us at the Weekly while our Style Director Leigh Matheson oversees a very special fashion show that we’re very much looking forward to.

For the very first time, our friends at Mercy Hospice are strutting their stuff with the big league at New Zealand Fashion Week and we’re very excited to be involved!

Some well-known New Zealanders will be amongst those taking to the catwalk – including the gorgeous Lorraine Downes, who sat down with our writer Donna Fleming this week to discuss the time she spent with Mercy Hospice while they cared for her late husband Martin. It truly is both a heartbreaking and heartwarming story.

As well as those big-name celebrities in the show, there will be some names you won’t be familiar with – but, my goodness, these are people who deserve to have their names in lights. They’re men and women that Lorraine calls “earth angels” – the incredible staff who help Kiwi families during their toughest days.

We take our hat off to them all and look forward to bringing you more of their stories as we get closer to show time.

Enjoy your week!
