BYE-BYE Bublé?
MICHAEL QUITS ‘VICIOUS’ SHOWBIZ – BUT WAS IT JUST SOMETHIN’ STUPID HE SAID?
Ho ho no! There was a collective gasp when news broke that
Michael Bublé was retiring from music and his upcoming
Sydney performance could be his last!
After a tough few years for the Canadian crooner while his eldest child Noah (5) battled cancer, Michael declared in an interview last week the experience had made him view fame differently and he would “be retiring from the business”.
In an interview with a British newspaper, Michael, who is also dad to Elias (2) and two-monthold Vida, reportedly said he was done with the shallowness and viciousness of show business.
“The diagnosis made me realise how stupid I’d been to worry about these unimportant things. I was embarrassed by my ego, that it had allowed this insecurity.
“I don’t have the stomach for it anymore – the celebrity narcissism. I started to crumble.
“This is my last interview. I’ve made the perfect record [his upcoming album Love] and I can leave at the very top.”
However, less than a day later, his spokesperson denied the singer was calling it a day.
“Michael has absolutely no plans to retire. I assure you with a new album coming out, TV appearances and a possible tour, he is not retiring.”
We guess time will tell – but Christmas wouldn’t be the same!
