New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

Phew! It’s been a week for the record books – I do hope you’ve been able to escape the heat and sleep soundly!

Normally I absolutely love the heat, but I decided not to test the limits of my SPF this week and stayed out of it as much as possible.

Thankfully, on Monday I had the perfect excuse to stay inside – I’m a sucker for all the awards shows and the Screen Actors Guild Awards is always a good watch. If you turn to the back of this issue, you’ll find all the frocks and pics – just wait until you see Jane Fonda!

And although we have the photos of Emily Blunt and her smitten husband John Krasinski, I highly recommend you look up the video of her acceptance speech for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role. She won the award for her role in A Quiet Place, the film her husband directed. The two of them are just gorgeous and it’s lovely to see a husband so overjoyed about his wife’s success!

There’s now two big award shows left on my list to watch. The BAFTAs are approaching and I owe thanks to the BAFTA folks this week who set up a candid interview with Nicole Kidman. It really is an interesting read.

Then at the end of February – on my birthday no less, thank you Academy! – we have the grand finale: the Oscars. I’ll be watching, come rain or heatwave, and will be sure to keep you updated.

Stay cool and enjoy your week!
