Dear Wendyl

I have a fair amount of face flannels – all in pretty good nick – except that they dry very hard. I have tried so many things to try and soften them, without much success. Do you have any ideas?

Many thanks,

May Dick

Hello May,

It’s frustrating that this happens and I think it might be a build-up of harsh detergents that don’t wash out. An easy fix is to get a bucket and pour in 1 cup of vinegar and 1 cup of hot water. Soak the flannels overnight, and then in the morning, wash them in your machine without any soap. The acid in the vinegar should work to get rid of any chemical build-up and return them to their happy, floppy, soft selves.
