FAMILY DRAMA WITH A SMILE

-

Delicious tells the story of Gina Benelli (Dawn French), who has inherited the Penrose Hotel and restaurant together with the glamorous Sam, played by Silent Witness star Emilia Fox, both former wives of the deceased head chef Leo Vincent.

Emilia tells the Weekly what’s in store in season three and dishes the dirt on what it’s like to work on the show. Describe Delicious in three words.

Joyous. Luscious. Delicious.

What’s new at the Penrose in series three?

Series three is a deeper mining of Vincent-Benelli family life and the complex relationships that they all have with each other. At the heart of it are four women all at different stages of life, which is what’s explored through themes of love, friendship, parenting, grandparenting, sex, trust, fun, time, birth and death. It’s an all-encompassing “seize the day” feel, which I loved when I read this series and hope viewers do too.

What’s working with Dawn French like?

I feel unbelievably lucky to have worked with Dawn on this series for three years now. We rarely get to see each other outside work, but while we are filming we chat from dawn until dusk about everything.

What’s your favourite thing about filming Delicious?

Knowing that it’s good family entertainment. I think there is something for everyone in its themes.
