New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

FROM THE EDITOR

-

Every Monday at the Weekly, we start the day with a story meeting – we discuss what we’re working on for the week, what’s going on out there and what’s coming up.

I don’t quite know where

I’d been to miss the news, but at Monday’s meeting our editorial director suddenly blurted out, “Oh, and Brad went to Jen’s birthday!”

I very nearly fell off my chair. Yes, it’s been 14 years since they split (which seems like a ridiculous amount of time for something that feels like it happened last week), but it was one Hollywood ending I found really hard to put to rest. I definitely would have been one of those crazy people wearing a “Team Jen” shirt if

I’d been able to get my hands on one!

But don’t worry, I get that he turned up to her big 50th birthday party merely as her friend, and though a part of me would always like to see them back together, I just love the idea that they’re supportive pals once more.

As well as the big international celebrity stories this week, we’re packed with fabulous local reads – including netball legends, big-hearted TVNZ stars and a lovely yarn about two brothers who both recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary!

Plus, we have some seriously delicious food. Nici Wickes has the perfect plan for what to do with the abundance of rhubarb out there at the moment, and Jo Seagar is making me wish I could review my gluten-free ways with her crispy cheese and chutney wonton sticks.

They’re fab recipes from her new book – and if you’re due to renew your Weekly subscription, you’ll want to turn to page 36. Subscriptions start at $37 and with every subscription you’ll get a copy of Jo’s book Elbows off the Table, Please (RRP

$50). A truly sweet deal.

Enjoy your week!
