Michelle Dockery’s new man
Michelle Dockery was heartbroken when her fiancé lost his battle with a rare cancer. But four years later, the Downton Abbey star has finally found love again.
The 37-year-old British actress is reportedly in a serious relationship with Jasper Waller-Bridge – the brother of actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge, whose TV comedy Fleabag is a cult hit in the UK – and an insider says the pair “are really enjoying being together”.
Michelle, best known for playing Downton’s
Lady Mary Crawley, was devastated in 2015 when her fiancé John Dineen died aged 34, just a year after their engagement.
“He was my friend, my king, my hero, my everything,” she said at his funeral.
“I don’t have the vocabulary to describe what it felt like,” she later added. “And what it still feels like. Everything shut down.”
Making the pain even greater was the fact that the character she played in
Downton became a widow around the same time.
“It was just baffling that my character’s storyline was so similar.”
Michelle, who is pals with Phoebe (34), was introduced to talent agent Jasper (31) about three months ago and a source says they’ve taken things slowly.
“Michelle has been travelling a lot to promote the Downton movie but they have been in constant contact.
Their friends and families are very happy for them.
It is just so lovely.
“Jasper is a bit younger than
Michelle, but he has dated older women in the past and it appears to be working for both of them.
“Michelle remains a very down-to-earth woman – dating an A-lister has never been her thing.”
