SHARON’S NEW SERIES TAKES ON LONDON’S CRIME SCENE

-

Seasoned Scottish actress Sharon Small is no stranger to detective dramas, having starred in Law and Order: UK, The Inspector Lynley Mysteries and Agatha Christie’s Marple. Her love of crime continues with the new series London Kills, in which she plays Detective Sergeant Vivienne Cole.

“As a viewer you want to be engaged with the piece that you are watching and crime drama allows an actor to take the audience on a journey,” tells Sharon of the genre’s popularity.

“Everyone likes a puzzle; they like a ‘who done it?’ and a ‘why did they do it?’”

London Kills follows an elite murder investigation squad as they deal with shocking cases in the UK’s capital. It’s centred around the experienced Detective Inspector David Bradford (Hugo Speer), who’s recently back on the job from compassionate leave after the disappearance of his wife. Vivienne had stepped into David’s role in his absence and is less than happy at his return.

The 52-year-old says one of her favourite things about London Kills is how different it is to previous shows she’s worked on.

“It’s the marrying of theatre and filming at the same time. It will have a different feel… we’re definitely going to be going very fast and have a slightly documentary feel.”

Another highlight has been shooting in London, where she currently lives with her family.

She explains, “I really enjoyed filming in the parts of London that we have, because I’ve not known them before and it’s even inspired me to take my kids there so that they can get to know the areas.”
