THE NEW DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES IS ‘DELICIOUS, WICKED FUN’

-

From the creator of Desperate Housewives comes a juicy new drama that will have you hooked from the very first episode! Why Women Kill stars Lucy Liu, Ginnifer Goodwin and Kirby Howell-Baptiste and tells the tale of three women who have each lived in the same house, in different decades.

There’s a housewife in the 1960s, a socialite in the 1980s and a lawyer in 2019, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. Series creator Marc Cherry, who began his career in 1990 on The Golden Girls,

says this show is his response to the #MeToo movement.

“I wanted to go down a different path, hence the tone of my show,” he says. “It’s delicious, wicked fun. I’m sneaking the politics in the middle of all this fun debauchery. I’m dealing with classic issues, and I do hope to say a little something about how women’s roles have changed and how marriage has changed.”

Marc (57) is known for adding splashes of controversy to his TV dramas – it’s what he’s been doing since The Golden Girls.

“Something that ended up being really groundbreaking was an episode that my writing partner and I did,” he recalls of his Golden

days. “We had Blanche’s brother – a gay cop – and his police officer boyfriend announce they were getting married. That was one of the first shows to deal with that. The episode turned out really well, but we also got death threats.”

Why Women Kill is Marc’s first venture into the more permissive world of streaming. “I get to use a couple of curse words here and there. There’s a little nudity if need be. But the most important thing is to be able to explore more provocative, adult issues.”
