PETER’S IN SHOCK!
ANOTHER ROYAL MARRIAGE HEADS FOR DIVORCE
Another royal couple split
There’s been more bad news for the Queen, with the announcement that her eldest grandson
Peter Phillips has separated from his wife Autumn.
Canadian-born Autumn (41) is believed to have told Peter she wants a divorce, leaving him “devastated” and his grandmother “upset”. They have two daughters together, Savannah (9) and Isla (7).
The pair decided to separate at the end of last year, but as they aren’t ‘senior royals’, didn’t think it was appropriate to announce their split.
“They have reached the conclusion that this was the best course of action for their two children and ongoing friendship. The decision to divorce and share custody came about after many months of discussions and although sad, is an amicable one,” says a spokesperson for the couple.
But Peter (42), who is the son of Anne, Princess Royal and former husband Captain Mark Phillips, is said to be shocked and “didn’t see it coming”.
“He thought he was happily married and had the perfect family with their two lovely daughters. But now he is in total shock,” a source tells.
“Autumn is a wonderful wife and mother, and a very intelligent woman but she’s been telling her friends for some time that there were issues. She is a favourite of the Queen and I’m sure Her Majesty will be very upset by this as well.
“It’s the last thing she needs after all her recent troubles. You get the feeling that the royal family is falling apart a little bit.”
The couple first met in 2003 at the Canadian Grand Prix, with sport manager Peter instantly taking to the vibrant Canadian. They later wed in a fairytale ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle in 2008, and welcomed Savannah in 2010, and Isla in 2012.
Despite speculation that Autumn wants to return to her native Canada, the couple’s spokesperson says she will remain in the United Kingdom to raise her two daughters alongside Peter.
