Milford Centre parking fine anger
A change in parking conditions at Milford Centre mall has led to hasty fines and congestion in surrounding residential streets.
Milford Centre has introduced paid parking in the northernmost section of its underground car park, but inadequate signs have been criticised by shoppers.
‘‘We’ve had people report they’ve received tickets they were most unhappy about,’’ Milford Residents Association chairperson Debbie Dunsford says.
Surrounding Milford residential parking has also been affected.
‘‘Streets surrounding Milford Mall are now filled for the large part of every day of the week and weekend with staff cars’’ Milford resident Robert Adding says.
‘‘The funny thing is that large parts of the mall’s own car park are vacant.’’
One comment on a Milford residents’ Facebook page questions parking inspector’s instructions:
‘‘I approached him and questioned my ticket as there was no restriction in that part of the car park.’’
‘‘His response ‘I was told to ticket everything’.’’
The $5 all day parking was introduced to accommodate Milford Centre employees.
To their credit, Milford Centre are waiving all fines from parking inadvertently in paid sections.
