‘‘It was a dream wedding … It’s uplifted us a whole lot.’’

Iketau said she was overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity shown to her, not just from family and friends, but from strangers who have donated towards her treatment costs.

‘‘Everyone’s just been an angel to be honest.’’

Iketau’s medical team also pitched in to make one more dream come true. With the help of palliative care charity Race 4 Life, they organised for the newlyweds to go on a honeymoon, children in tow, to Queenstown.

It is the last holiday for the family before treatment kicks in. Iketau started a two-month course of oral chemotherapy the day after the wedding.

She hopes she will have raised enough money to be able to go to Melbourne for the peptide receptor radionuclide therapy by the time the course is completed.

‘‘It’s about making memories now,’’ she said.

Iketau has also linked up with the Unicorn Foundation, a not-forprofit medical charity focused on neuroendocrine tumours, to advocate for the Government to provide the peptide receptor radionuclide therapy for patients like her who are unable to afford the exorbitant cost.

You can donate to the fundraiser by visiting the Givealittle page ‘Life for My Wife’.
