FATAL ACCIDENT
One person has died and another has serious injuries after a crash near Auckland’s Greville Rd onramp. A police spokeswoman said police were called to the scene on State Highway One at 2am on Sunday after the vehicle left the road and crashed into a lamp post. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious injuries. The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
GUNPOINT ROBBERY
A man was left shaken after he was forced at gunpoint to withdraw money from an ATM. Police said three men with links to the Head Hunters gang had been arrested after the incident. Police said the victim was taken from his car in Northcote Point, August 9 around 4.40pm, assaulted and taken to an ATM where the kidnappers made him withdraw money. After being let go, he was able to flag down a member of the public and call the police. Three men have been charged with kidnapping and aggravated robbery and will appear in the North Shore District Court.

WASTE MINIMISATION
Auckland Council’s Waste Minimisation and Innovation
Fund (WMIF) supports projects and innovative solutions from businesses, iwi/Maori, education and community groups that will reduce waste to landfill. Over $2.6 million has been allocated to more than 280 projects since the fund started in April 2013. Grants of up to $50,000 are available from September 1 to 30, 2017.
