Shore life ‘has it all’

-

Liam Collett, 21, from Unsworth Heights, has just opened his own North Shore real estate business.

How long have you lived here and where are you from? I have lived on the North Shore my entire life, growing up in the great community of Paremoremo and now living on the central North Shore.

I have lived overseas a couple of times for short periods for study and work experience.

Describe your neighborhood. A taste of Hawaii in little old New Zealand. We have it all, great local and wider community, beaches, shops, restaurants. You name it, the Shore has it.

What is your earliest memory of the Shore? Having family trips to Long Bay Beach and riding on the train followed by an ice cream.

What are the greatest advantages to living here? Being able to take advantage of the ocean all summer long whilst being five minutes away from work and home!

Where is your favorite North Shore beach and why? Thorne Bay - I feel like it’s a great little hideaway and a great place to spend with family and friends.

Who is the person you admire the most and why? I mostly admire my Mum. She has taught me many lessons over the years on being grounded, humble and that your word is the only thing you can stick by, honesty is key.

She also has an amazing work ethic and helps the local community a lot with day to day jobs.

What do you like least about the Shore and how can we fix it? Traffic! Every day I see many cars driving past with only one occupant. We should all car pool more, take advantage of the increase of public transport and use bikes more

often.

Where is the best place to have a meal? Rangitoto Island. In summer it’s great to nip across and have some great food.

What are you doing this weekend? On the weekends, I go to the local markets, and often walk my dog down the beach or other local walkways. I also love visiting my favourite restaurant Musashi.
