Happy, healthy life

-

Northcote’s Justin Bambery, 45, is a business owner, a family man and a keen surfer

How long have you lived here and where are you from?

I’ve lived in Northcote on-and-off for the last 10 years and I was born in Auckland. I’ve lived in other places in New Zealand, and other parts of the world, but the North Shore is my home. Describe your neighbourhood.

I live and work in the commercial and industrial part of Northcote and I enjoy the availability of everything that is close to me: the Asian food, the shops, the parks, the motorway and I enjoy living in a diverse multicultural environment. Priorityfitness, my local gym is walking distance from my home-work, which this is ideal and there are no excuses to not keep fit and strong. This gym has changed my life and attitude towards life. It has taught me more than just keeping fit. It’s not a mainstream gym.

What is your earliest memory of the Shore? I’ve grown up around the North Shore so I’m very familiar with all the potential and opportunities it provides, beaches, parks, cafes. It has expanded and grown so much since I was young.

What are the greatest advantages to living here?

People are much more happier and healthier on the Shore in my eyes. When you look around people are into improving their health, fitness and wellbeing in a natural way using the local environment which is great!

What is your favourite North Shore beach and why?

Takapuna, because it provides surf sometimes and it’s great for swimming and great for kids.

What do you like least about the Shore and how can we fix it?

The traffic and the parking is a problem. Possibly, more cycle ways and public transport

Where is the best place to have a meal?

I like the variety in Takapuna, we eat out there every week and you can choose any country or culture of your choice.

What are you doing this weekend?

I work every Saturday from 7am until 2pm and then I try and do something fun with my two daughters, Kalina and Alisa. Sundays are also family days, doing activities such as the local markets, surfing, skateboarding, playing and exploring.
