BRAVO DARBY

-

Congratulations to councillor Chris Darby in successfully opposing the sale of the pocket park in Forrest Hill, and best wishes for a similar result for the land at Hauraki. And black marks for those on the local board who supported these sales.

The new Unitary Plan will increase housing density on the Shore, and the day of the quarter acre section has gone.

These small pocket parks will become increasingly valuable to give young children a chance to feel the grass under their feet, and to provide a safe haven for older folks needing a rest.

As the covered and paved area of our city increases, we will need more, not less, of these pocket parks.
