From the heart and raw

- ARRON NETTMANN - CONTRIBUTOR

It has been a while since New Zealanders have heard the name Andrew Papas, but that is set to change.

The former Long Bay College student and singer from Titanium has gone solo and released his debut single Burn It Down.

After nearly four years in the music industry, including tours in New Zealand, Australia and the United States with Titanium (formed by the Edge radio station in 2012), Papas is now writing about what he feels.

‘‘I hope that people really enjoy the song for what it is, it is from the heart and raw. It’s not about the charts, but if that happens I’ll be over the moon!’’

Papas’ single is about his journey in the music industry and how he has changed and grown as an individual. ‘‘There are many people in the music industry and I guess in life in general who don’t always have your best interests at heart. This song is about realising this and changing this. It’s about taking control of my own life and my own future.’’

Papas says he has had time to mature, this means that his music is more passionate, honest and edgy. He took his time with this single, writing the lyrics and working with Vince Harder with the production of the track. ‘‘Vince brings the song to life with his amazing skill.’’

Burn it Down is available from a number of digital download providers.
