ARREST OVER DEATH

A man has appeared in North Shore District Court charged over the death of a Rodney woman. Kevin Leslie Everett, 65, was arrested on February 12 after police were called to an address in Redvale following reports of an alleged assault. A 53-year-old woman at the address was taken to Auckland Hospital with serious head injuries and passed away the following day, police said. Everett was charged with wounding causing grievous bodily harm and appeared in the North Shore District Court for the second time on February 22. He was remanded into custody until March 1, without plea.The court was told the police were continuing to investigate. Police earlier said in a statement they cannot rule out the possibility that the charge will be upgraded.
