- SPORT REPORTER

North Shore primary school students are swarming to Takapuna Beach to take part in the weekly Harcourts Beach Series, Schools Competition.

School teams are eligible for points throughout the season which gives them the opportunity to vie for end of season trophies and prizes.

Regular competitors, Campbells Bay Primary School, have been taking part for the last four years.

As 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 series winners, they are keen to defend their title.

Keri Maunder, head of sport at Campbells Bay Primary School and beach series participant, recommends the series.

‘‘The series is an awesome family and community event,’’ Maunder says.

‘‘We’re so blessed on the North Shore with our beautiful surroundings, and it is fantastic to see so many families and friends taking advantage of the beach and leading a healthy lifestyle. We all love it.’’

The series is held every Tuesday from 5pm onwards and caters for all ages and abilities. Participants can choose from running, swimming or stand up paddling.

To register visit the website beachseries.co.nz or simply turn up at Takapuna Beach on a Tuesday from 5pm and add your school and year to the entry form.
