Dance crew: Freshmans Dance Crew dancers and choreograp­hers from different worlds collide, in a vibrant mash-up of hip hop and contempora­ry dance like you’ve never seen before. September 3, from 10.30am at the Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna.

Peninsula exhibition: From The Peninsula will showcase the artwork of nine schools from the Devonport Peninsula from year 1 to year 13, creating a visual identity for the peninsula schools. Folk Club: Beverly Young performs at the East Coast Folk Club. September 1, from 8pm till 10.30pm at Torbay Senior Citizens Social Center, 37 Watea Rd, Torbay. Earth and Air: Birkenhead painter and ceramicist Heather Grouden presents ceramics inspired by the cliff formations below the Chelsea Sugar Works. Group Show: Four abstract artists present five or six paintings each in a group exhibition at Northart. Bob Drake and Ray Wilkinson work in geometric styles, while the works of Denice Symons and Biljana Snjegota are more organic and representa­tional. Gentle fitness: Essentrics is a gentle fitness programme for all levels, including strengthen­ing, stretching, toning the body, increasing flexibilit­y and improving posture. Fall prevention: A fun and interactiv­e programme designed to help seniors retain their independen­ce and maintain their health and wellbeing. Participan­ts will be guided through a two-anda-half-hour educationa­l and gentle exercise session.
