Zara Brouwers is constantly meeting clients who want more support towards wellness.

So the pharmacist and yoga teacher is starting a conscious health community, soon to open above the corner of Devon and Egmont Streets, where Club 55 was previously based.

‘‘I really wanted to create somewhere that was a beautiful space and had the ability to create a really accessible point for people in the community to come to reduce their stress, change their lifestyle, practise yoga and feel like they’re doing something really positive towards a sustainable future,’’ she said.

Then she met integrative nutrition coach and Bin Inn national health guru Michelle Yandle and craniosacral therapist, meditation and mindfulness teacher Meegan Care.

Both women will set up a permanent base in the building and offer various courses. Brouwers plans to open the centre at 6.30am most days for yoga lessons, closing at about 8pm.

‘‘There’s always going to be someone floating around, and the beautiful space is also available for drop-in meditations so people can come for free and just enjoy the space and be part of the collective energy and reduce their stress.’’

Brouwers was excited about how the space is shaping up with support from her father, Mike Brouwers, a builder who owns Shokunin Homes.

‘‘I actually feel like it’s unbelievable that it’s coming to fruition. I think it’s been a concept for so long, something I’ve dreamed about creating. Having such wonderful women on board as well has meant the momentum has picked up.’’

Yandle said being part of the project would open up opportunities. ‘‘Being a space where I can see clients but also conduct workshops in the same area is going to be really amazing.’’

Care said this was something she’d wanted for a long time. ‘‘It’s such an online world now. There’s so much disconnection and we all agree, let’s bring it back to community and community The centre will open on Monday, August 1 with a launch party on Saturday, August 13.
