ADULT CLASSES: Val Deakin Dance is offering weekly dance classes for adults in ballet – four different classes at different levels during the week, contempora­ry dance, tap dance ( for all ages) and ballroom dance. Next term there will be a new six-week session of folk dance classes on a Thursday evening from 7.30-8.30pm at the Dance Centre – starting on Thursday, July 28. No partners required, just flat shoes and comfortabl­e clothing. This year’s show from the New Plymouth Operatic Society is playing to rave reviews (see page 34). Audiences have come to expect first-class production­s and this does not disappoint. NEW EXHIBITION: The Gables Art Gallery, situated next to Brooklands Zoo, now has a new exhibition entitled Still Life. that includes a few works from members of the NP Pottery Club and Te Kupenga stone carving group.The exhibition is on until August 21.
