People who like native plants can take home a living memory from a celebrated Taranaki rainforest. On Sunday August 7 there will be another Explorer Day at Pukeiti for adults and children, and the theme is Pot a Plant.

Garden manager Andrew Brooker will lead an onsite walk and talk covering forest systems, plants, and seedlings. Participan­ts will then get to pot-up seedlings to take home.

Wet-weather clothing is recommende­d for the workshop. It will be held from 10.30am to 2pm at 2290 Carrington Rd. For more informatio­n visit pukeiti.org.nz.

BABES: Mums, dads and caregivers get your art fix by joining GovettBrew­ster staff in the cinema for a ‘virtual’ tour of the current exhibition Emanations: The Art of the Cameraless Photograph then enjoy a baby-friendly morning tea with the La Leche League New Plymouth. NEW EXHIBITION: The Gables Art Gallery, situated next to Brooklands Zoo, now has a new exhibition entitled Still Life. that includes a few works from members of the NP Pottery Club and Te Kupenga stone carving group.The exhibition is on until August 21. Open 1-4 pm Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, the Gables has wheelchair access at the back entrance. Classes in drawing and oil painting are beginning with local artist Chris Cockitt.
