Victim Support needs volunteers

- STAFF REPORTER

Victim Support is asking for volunteers (especially those who are able to work on the daytime roster) who are interested in undertaking training in October to become part of their team to put their name forward now so that the interviewing process can begin.

Victim Support provides a free 24 / 7 community response to help victims of serious crime and trauma. The organisation provides emotional and practical support, information, referral to other support services and advocacy for the rights of victims. Volunteers are at the heart of the service.

Training is a requirement for Volunteer Support Workers to become part of the wonderful team who offer their time, skills and life experience to victims of crime and trauma.

No one will tell you that this is an easy role but if you have compassion, patience and really want to make a difference to people in your community at a time when they are at their most vulnerable, then it may well be worthwhile you having a chat with the lovely people at Victim Support.

Extensive training is offered, as is the ongoing supervision and a chance to be part of a professional, supportive and caring organisation.

This warm environment all adds to the benefits of becoming involved and knowing that you could make an enormous difference in someone’s life when they most need it.

Consider for a few moments if you do have these skills and the time available and if the answers if yes then please give Heather a call now at Volunteering New Plymouth on (06) 7588-986 or email npvsnz@yahoo.co.nz and she will arrange for you to receive further information from Victim Support.
