FUN DAY: Kahikatea Kindergart­en is raising funds to upgrade its facilities. It invites everyone to come down to the New World Supermarke­t on Courtney St, New Plymouth, and to do their shopping in fancy dress. Bring the kids for free face-painting and balloons. BONSAI: Want to learn how to look after and re-pot your bonsai tree? At Cedar Lodge 63 Egmont Road the NP Bonsai Club will be hard at it on Sunday August 28, from 10am to 3pm. Members would love to help you.

FRIENDS OF PUKEKURA PARK: Members of the public are welcome to join the Curator’s guided walk on Tuesday September 6, starting at the Bellringer Pavilion at 10.30am (wet or fine). Duration of walk is approximat­ely 90 minutes and this is a great way to experience the park and see the camellias and rhododendr­ons which are flowering now.
