NEW EXHIBITION: The North Taranaki Arts Society’s exhibition Winter Season is now showing at the Gables Gallery, next to the Chinese Pavilion at Brooklands Park until October 2. There are still places available for Amanda Brett’s watercolou­r workshop to be held in November, and Maxine Thompson’s pastel classes in January. Flip and Two Twisters by New Zealand filmmaker Shirley Horrocks explores Lye’s career and ideas with the help of historical footage and excerpts from his films. CAFE´ BUSINESS: The new heartwrenc­hing New Zealand documentar­y by former New Plymouth director Lisa Burd follows an Auckland couple launching their cafe´, Monterey, with three young Samoan boys.
