ORGAN RECITAL: Last month, Director of Music to Taranaki Community & Cathedral,

Christophe­r Luke, began a new series of Lunchtime Organ Recitals at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Powderham St. This series will be held on the first Tuesday of each month beginning at 1pm (following the Midday Mass). The next recital will take place on Tuesday October 4. On Wednesday, October 5 at 11.30am, Luke will return to the Taranaki Interim Cathedral to give his final hymn lecture for 2016. With interestin­g facts and recordings to listen to, as well as the chance to sing the hymn itself, Luke will explore the wellknown paraphrase of Psalm 23, The Lord’s my shepherd sung to the tune Crimond. Entry by gold coin donation.

BLUES BAND: Laura Collins and the Back Porch Blues Band are bringing their own brand of the blues live to New Plymouth. At the 4th Wall Theatre on Saturday October 1 . 7.30pm, bookings 4th WallTheatr­e tickets $25.

MUSIC GROUP: The Mixture of Music Group meets every second and fourth Sunday afternoon, 1-4pm at the New Plymouth Senior Citizens Hall, 33 Liardet St, admission $3. Everyone welcome.
