NEW PLYMOUTH POTTERS: Featured potter for February is Kathryn Gates. She has been working with clay for more than 30 years and channels her creative energy by developing forms on the wheel and sculpturin­g large slab forms. The gallery, situated at 288 Courtenay Street, New Plymouth, in the historic Te Henui Vicarage, is open from 1-4pm at weekends and other times by arrangemen­t. ART CLASS: The North Taranaki Arts Society has a drawing and painting class scheduled at the Gables Studio in Brooklands Park, taken by Jan Huijbers. This class is suitable for both beginners and advanced students. The sessions will focus on the perception of seeing and drawing, and on the use of primary colours and colour theory. The classes will take place on Saturday mornings, 10am to midday, from February 25 to April 1. (A total of six sessions).
