North Taranaki Midweek

We may have missed summer, or summer has missed us, but the entertainment scene is heating up.

We had Tropfest at the weekend, Womad next month and of course Americarna this week. The great thing is that two out of three of these events are free to the public.

Unfortunately, Tropfest is struggling. While it could be that audiences do not react well to the films chosen, the struggle to maintain the concept is probably a matter of money or lack of it. It always surprises me as to why organisers are reluctant to ask those who attend these affairs to pay a small cost. After all nobody thinks twice about paying to go to the movies or a show. Is it because organisers fear that others might not be as enamoured as they are about the offerings?

Americarna on the other hand offers free fun and entertainment. I just hope the weather stays warm and sunny so as many people as possible can enjoy the cars and the processions.
