North Taranaki Midweek

Hospice shop needs helpers

- MARIE RIORDAN

I am sure that everyone will know about the huge financial contribution the Hospice Op Shops make in supporting the operation of the Te Rangimarie Hospice.

In this, the week of Hospice Awareness, we are putting out an urgent call to ask for help to support the amazing work that Hospice Taranaki does; by asking if you have a few hours in your week to help at the shop in Westown. The wonderful staff and volunteers are kept very busy both in the shops and the storage depots. Your age and gender do not matter, it is your willingness to get stuck in that is valued.

At the moment they are in need of extra pairs of hands to help at the depot with sorting all the donated items. This is an essential role as it allows the shop to keep moving stock on and off the shelves and the shop floor.

Other areas where help is required are the cleaning and pricing of the brica-brac, shop cashier, counter people, processing linen, and clothing as well as people who are able to help lifting and shifting in the furniture department.

If you have time to spare, are fit and healthy with a good sense of humour, and able to work with minimal supervision how about considering working for a few hours doing one of these most worthwhile roles.

I am sure all volunteers will find it rewarding as they assist this fantastic organisation play such an important part in so many of our lives.

To find out more and start the conversation then I would encourage you to quickly contact Marie at Volunteering New Plymouth on (06) 7588-986, email her at npvsnz@yahoo.co.nz or phone or text 027 541 0577 so that she can explain more and register your interest in helping.

Thank you for supporting those who make such a positive contribution to your local community
