Take time to volunteer, you’ll be glad

- MARIE RIORDAN

This year Volunteering New Plymouth held its annual Recognition Awards night on September 20, at the Council Chambers with Mayor Neil Holdom presenting the certificate and goodie bag to 14 very worthy recipients. These volunteers have either made an extra special effort or have given outstanding service over a number of years. The awards are a way that volunteers can be acknowledged for the difference they make in our community through their work. You will see these wonderful people in our congratulations advertisement.

What is Volunteering - it is the giving of time and energy for the benefit of our community, environment or individuals outside our immediate family. It is time given freely and by choice, without concern for financial gain.

Volunteering New Plymouth is now looking to start a database of new volunteers who are interested in giving volunteering a go but don’t want to commit to something every week.

For our new database we are looking for people of all ages, from 14 years and older who are interested in being included in this new initiative. If you are happy to be called upon when there is an event or project that is short term and does not require an ongoing commitment, we are keen to hear from you. We will want to know what interests you so that we can contact you to be part of something that you will enjoy doing So please contact Marie at Volunteering New Plymouth on (06) 758 8986 or 027 541 0577 or email coordinator@volunteeringnewplymouth.nz
