Take time to vol­un­teer, you’ll be glad

This year Vol­un­teer­ing New Ply­mouth held its an­nual Recog­ni­tion Awards night on Septem­ber 20, at the Coun­cil Chambers with Mayor Neil Holdom pre­sent­ing the cer­tifi­cate and goodie bag to 14 very wor­thy re­cip­i­ents. These vol­un­teers have ei­ther made an ex­tra spe­cial ef­fort or have given out­stand­ing ser­vice over a num­ber of years. The awards are a way that vol­un­teers can be ac­knowl­edged for the dif­fer­ence they make in our com­mu­nity through their work. You will see these won­der­ful peo­ple in our con­grat­u­la­tions ad­ver­tise­ment.

What is Vol­un­teer­ing - it is the giv­ing of time and en­ergy for the ben­e­fit of our com­mu­nity, en­vi­ron­ment or in­di­vid­u­als out­side our im­me­di­ate fam­ily. It is time given freely and by choice, with­out con­cern for fi­nan­cial gain.

Vol­un­teer­ing New Ply­mouth is now look­ing to start a data­base of new vol­un­teers who are in­ter­ested in giv­ing vol­un­teer­ing a go but don’t want to com­mit to some­thing ev­ery week.

For our new data­base we are look­ing for peo­ple of all ages, from 14 years and older who are in­ter­ested in be­ing in­cluded in this new ini­tia­tive. If you are happy to be called upon when there is an event or project that is short term and does not re­quire an on­go­ing com­mit­ment, we are keen to hear from you.
