OP SHOP BARGAINS: As part of the The Sustainabl­e Backyards Programme the Marfell Community Cafe and the Marfell Op Shop will be open Saturday, November 4 from 10am - 3pm. The Op Shop is keen to divest itself of all winter gear in order to prepare for summer so there will be bargains galore. Tucked behind the The Community Cafe is their sustainabl­e garden so come and see what we’re up to, listen to Ruth Pfister talk on community engagement through gardening and enjoy superb barista coffee and cakes. ZERO WASTE COOKING: Workshops - $20, November 18, 10.30am-1pm, Kahikatea Kindergart­en: Reduce waste and learn new cooking tips for healthy recipes. This workshop is shaped to its participan­ts to determine what will be cooked together. Lunch provided and all vegetables are supplied by the Kindergart­en garden.

FRIENDS OF PUKEKURA PARK: Curator’s Walk Tuesday November 7 10.30am, starting at the Bellringer Pavilion (wet or fine). This month we are being treated to an in depth look at the magnificen­t and colourful Hot Houses and what goes on behind the scenes to keep the displays looking so fantastic. Members of the public are invited to join us for this session which will last approximat­ely 1 hour. Stay on for refreshmen­ts at the Tea House afterwards.

Viewing from 10am with the auction commencing at noon. All proceeds raised go to providing care and support to terminally ill patients and their families.
