DRESS FOR SUCCESS

-

Stylists, helping hands, marketing and communications volunteers are needed.

Dress for Success New Plymouth is a free service that promotes the independence of women returning to the workforce by providing suitable clothing and all the tools needed to become workready. Once employment is secured the women return for a wardrobe of clothes suitable for their new work place. DFS also provides a support network and other motivational tools with ongoing career support once employment is secured. The programme operates worldwide, with affiliates in other parts of New Zealand. Currently it is looking for well presented, motivated volunteers, who are interested in clothes and fashion, to assist with maintaining their extensive wardrobe to a first-rate standard and who are able to act as stylist to dress clients with appropriate clothes for their job interviews.

Assistance is also needed to expand the Dress for Success New Plymouth profile through all media including newsletters and events, so if you have skills in any media formats and / or an interest in clothes and fashion and have time on your hands please think about offering your services.

TARANAKI TOY LIBRARY

Taranaki Toy Library Trust is a member of the Toy Library Federation of New Zealand that actively promotes play as being essential to the educational, physical, psychological, social and cultural development of children. The local library is situated in Fitzroy and is run by a mixture of volunteers, family members and trustees who are dedicated to promoting play, playthings and playful interaction to children in our local community. It is a place where there is access to a large range of quality toys that can be borrowed on a regular basis at minimal cost.

A volunteer is required, for about two hours a week on a Tuesday morning between 10am and noon, to help out with checking the toys in and out. This role involves good computer and customer service skills, confidence in literacy and numeracy; together with attention to detail and of course you would enjoy being around children.

If volunteering with either Dress for Success or Taranaki Toy Library appeals to you then please contacting Marie at the Volunteering New Plymouth on (06) 758 8986, text / phone cell 027 541 0577 or email coordinator@volunteeringnewplymouth.nz to take that next step.
