Ups and downs of life

- KATH BROWN OPINION

THUMBS UP

TO: Commonwealth Games, especially the medal winners. While we know that not everyone can win it’s great when we do.

TO: The English netball team. These women had belief in themselves and each other and it showed. A first gold medal is not to be sniffed at.

TO: Andrew Judd. Here is a man of principle and no small measure of courage. He paid a huge price for having ideas that others disagreed with. His battle to get better representation for Ma¯ ori continues on the national stage.

TO: The wizard who is going to provide the more than 6000 products, such as vitamin capsules, chocolate and other essential goods made from petroleum byproducts.

THUMBS DOWN

TO: TVNZ and Spark getting the Rugby World Cup next year. Some games will be free, others we have to pay for. And if you haven’t got a computer you will miss out because Spark will livestream their games.

TO: The fad for shredded meat. Shredded in reality is stringy meat. Slice it please.
