Brothers’ run to success

- BAYLEY MOOR

The Hoult boys are keeping it in the family with three wins from three in a recent inter-schools cross country competition.

Callum, 10, Mitchell, 8, and sixyear-old Liam won their respective categories at the Kerikeri and Districts Junior Inter-School Cross Country event.

The three boys all go to Riverview Primary School where they were training four times a week.

They had to place in the top five in the school competition to make the inter-school event.

Their mother Ginny supported them in extra training but says the family try to keep as fit as possible anyway.

‘‘Liam’s result surprised us the most since he often says his legs are tired when we are out walking.

‘‘I was very proud of my boys, I didn’t expect them all to win their races.’’

She says it is hard to guess how they might do at inter-schools because they are up against kids that they haven’t seen before.

Callum says he was more nervous than excited before his inter-schools race.

‘‘I had won inter-schools before but this year I had to challenge my best friend for first place.’’

The boys also take part in cricket, swimming and cycling in summer and football in the winter.

Ginny says the boys have to burn off energy somehow.
