When Northland residents set their sights on achieving things, anything is possible.

That’s particularly evident with the opening of two new ventures; the Waitangi Mountain Bike Park and the Ruakaka skate park.

Both will lift and enhance their communities, provide them with fun facilities and attract visitors. 160 volunteers have put in countless hours carving out a bike trail in Waitangi Forest. The Focus Paihia project led by Tiffany and Robin Holland was a huge team effort.

It’s estimated that after a few years the bike park will attract around 15,000 visitors to Northland.

Though a smaller project, the Ruakaka skate park will be just as important to the kids and adults of the area. The community weren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and raise the money and build it themselves.

In both cases local businesses provided services for free or at a discount. Take a bow Northland!
