RUBBISH PROBLEM

-

With roadside rubbish collections using plastic bags, nearly every part of the community has experienced dogs ripping open the bags, and the rubbish strewn around the area.

Those in the Okaihau area have experienced a recent escalation with this problem.

If your Green Northland Waste rubbish bags were subject to such a dog attack, it is highly likely that the depositor of the rubbish will receive a Litter Infringement notice from FNDC if an inspector finds any documentation with your name and address on it.

Northland Waste doesn’t pick up the rubbish from their shredded green bags and it remains on the roadside.

It seems that the council considers that if a rubbish bag placed for roadside collection is torn open by dogs, the rubbish is deemed to have been dumped.

The FNDC is failing dismally in not dealing with the cause – the stray wandering dogs and their irresponsible owners.

For the council to then issue infringement notices against innocent ratepayers, is reprehensible.
