Video messages to curb bad driving

- STAFF REPORTER

Te Kura Taumata O Panguru Students Against Dangerous Driving (SADD) have launched a campaign to improve the behaviour and safety of drivers, passengers and whanau by raising awareness of the effects of dangerous driving through a series of video messages.

The SADD campaign is a joint project between Te Kura Taumata O Panguru, health provider Hauora Hokianga and supported by Far North District Road Safety Team.

The campaign was launched on June 30 on Te Kura Taumata o Panguru facebook page with the reveal of the first of five video messages.

The videos feature Panguru SADD students, and local people with relevant messages that promote road safety.

Messages will include ‘‘taraiwa morearea ka mate, tiakina to whakapapa’’, ‘‘buckle up all the time, it’s not that hard’’, ‘‘get a sober driver if you’re going for a drink’’ and ‘‘driving is a privilege, make good decisions’’.

Community Development Officer Hayley Paul says the campaign is fronted by Te Kura Taumata O Panguru’ SADD reps.

‘‘We knew that they would be the best people to front the campaign. They are the present and future leaders, our motivators and the ones to encourage good behaviour.’’
