Lodge voted best in NZ
The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs has been named the number one hotel in Australia and New Zealand, by Travel and Leisure readers in the publication’s World’s Best Awards 2017.
The win was announced on July 12 by the US-based magazine, one of the world’s leading travel publications.
Kauri Cliffs has a range of luxury facilities and accommodation options including a golf course, tennis courts, spa, fitness centre and private swimming beaches.
It is located on 6000 acres of land near Matauri Bay and is owned by New York-based financier and philanthropist Julian Robertson and family.
‘‘To be named the number one resort, particularly in a country like New Zealand where the ‘luxury lodge’ phenomenon was born and the accommodation bar is set high, says a lot about the experience at Kauri Cliffs,’’ chief operating officer Euan Taylor says.
‘‘We offer a very personal, warm and tailored style of hospitality where guests really do come first, and it is a heartfelt honour to the entire team to be recognised as number one across Australia and New Zealand.’’
Kauri Cliffs also ranked number four overall on the World’s Best Hotels list, which saw Nihi Sumba Island in Indonesia ranked number one.
