Fresh faces at the Cheviot Four Square

-

The Cheviot Four Square will have new owners as of Monday, but to many in North Canterbury they will still be familiar faces.

Kerry and Sally-Anne Tull are all settled into their new home in Cheviot and are excited about being the new owners of the Cheviot Four Square after purchasing it off previous owners John and Joanna Prebble.

The Tulls are North Canterbury born-and-bred and both attended Rangiora High School.

Kerry, who was previously the fresh food manager at Rangiora New World has been working toward his goal of owning a supermarket for the past five years completing a management academy course.

‘‘I’ve had excellent training with the support of Foodstuffs and Robin Brown from Rangiora New World. The outcome from my training would usually be to step up into supermarket management or ownership.

‘‘At the end of last year, after completing my course we sat down with Robin and talked about what to do next and he encouraged us to look into ownership, we got the approval to be Four Square or Raeward owners, so we set about looking for a shop to purchase.’’

The Tulls sold up their home, so they were ready cash buyers in case a supermarket came up, and it didn’t take long for the couple to secure the Cheviot shop, a location they are really excited about.

‘‘It is a great spot; it’s on the way to Kaikoura, and Gore Bay and Motonau and we are so happy to still be in North Canterbury.

‘‘There is a great vibe about the town, and some amazing cafe’s. We’ve already noticed it’s warmer than Rangiora without the cold easterly too.’’

The couple have two young children Issy and Fletcher, who are settling well into their new pre-school, which is right next door to the shop and a very short walk from their house.

The keen sporting couple have already been recruited by clubs in the area and are looking forward to being a part of the community.

For all Four Square Cheviot shoppers it will be business as usual come Monday, when the Tulls, who have been on board for a couple of weeks learning the ropes, officially take over.

All the staff are being kept on and Kerry and Sally-Anne are looking forward to bringing their personalities to the business.

‘‘We would just like to improve on what is already a really great shop,’’ Kerry said.
