Northern Outlook

FROM THE EDITOR

Some months ago, the national boss of our community newspapers started a competition for the best front page. This friendly competition has rapidly turned into an absolute bun-fight.

I was sure I had a winner this week - what could be better than Murphy and his brood of baby ducks? Then I had a peak at what the other papers had - albino tuis, children in fields of flowers, miniature trains - all beautifully illustrated and great wee stories. So it remains to be seen who will win the vote at the end of the week - I’m certainly still hopeful.

But I’m also asking for your help. If you’ve got a great photo of this glorious region we call home, or a wonderful snap with a nice wee story of someone you love, get in touch. And do check out the front pages of our other publications online. They’re really very good.

But I think we can win. If not this week, then next. And nobody said I couldn’t call on the best readers in the world to help!

- Shannon.
