CRICKET WASHED OUT

The Cheviot senior cricket team were crowned Canterbury Country Division two champions without bowling a ball on Saturday. Rain had the final say on the last day of the season, giving the top-seeded Cheviot the competition win over Ohoka, and the opportunity for promotion into the premier grade next summer. A decision on the promotion and relegation is expected by the end of April. Rangiora took the honours in division three in a washed out final against Ohoka Maroon, and for the hat-trick, Ohoka White also lost the washed-out Senior Division 3 section two against final top-seeds Kaiapoi.
